Properties are custom fields that can be added to an equipment type. For example, you might like to add a field to a fire door record to track the hinge type, or you might like to add a field to a gauge record to track the residual pressure. Properties can either be static records, or can be updated with the answers to questions during an inspection.
To add a property, first navigate to the Admin page and select Manage Subtables –> Manage Properties. Note that Administrator permissions are required to access this page. On this page you can view existing properties and add new ones. To add, use the “Add New” button and type in a name for the property.
After the property is added to the Manage Properties table, navigate to Checkpoint –> Equipment Type and find the equipment type you wish to add it to. Open the Equipment Type record and scroll down to the Properties section. Here you can view properties that are already added to the Equipment Type, add new Properties or Delete Properties.
Once added to the Equipment Type record, it will display on all equipment records for that type of equipment. The property can be viewed and edited from both the web portal and the mobile app. For the web portal, open an individual equipment record and scroll down to Properties. If you wish to edit the Property current value, click on the Property name and an edit window will open.
In the mobile app, from the Equipment Details screen, scroll down to Properties. Note that you may have to click the icon to expand the section open. If you wish to edit the Property current value, tap on the Property name and an edit window will open.
Creating Dynamic Properties
Some properties, such as the Residual Pressure, you may wish to have updated each time an inspection question is answered. After following the steps above to create a Property and add it to an equipment type, you will link it to a question set.
First, create a new question set or open an existing question set. Write a question and then navigate to the “Store in Property” option. Check the box and select the existing property from the drop-down menu. Save. Now, each time this question is answered in the mobile app, the current value of the Property for the equipment the inspection was performed on will be overwritten with the answer to the question.
